Lien Deadlines

We always say, ‘You’ve done the work, you deserve to get paid’, and it’s true. Whether you are a contractor, subcontractor, or supplier, you have done the work and you deserve to get paid for the work you have given them. In order to make sure that you are able to get paid for the work, you have to make sure that you know the rules and deadlines for liens.

Every state has their own requirements and deadlines for the lien process, so it is important that you know what the requirements and deadlines are for the state you are working in. Missing these deadlines can seriously impact your ability to collect payment for the work you’ve done.

If you don’t file for a lien before the deadline, you can find that the lien isn’t valid and you don’t really have a lot of recourse to get paid, which can mean that you miss out on payments that your business needs and deserves.

Liens also tend to have a first come first serve priority situation and if someone has multiple liens against them, filing later rather than sooner can put your payments behind on the payment schedule.

Knowing lien deadlines is critical for protecting your business and getting paid, and understanding these deadlines can be the difference between securing payment and missing out on getting paid.

Lien Counsel is all about liens. We keep track of lien deadlines nationwide and take the worry of staying up-to-date on your liens off your plate so you can do the work you really care about.
